Ports

The Province of Oristano looks onto the spacious, evocative homonymous Gulf, one of the main ones along the western coast of the island. Opening wide in front of the town, it is limited by two mountainous headlands to its sides, enclosing a lower coast in the middle. It counts three different ports: the industrial port of Oristano, the marina of Oristano and that of Bosa.

THE INDUSTRIAL PORT OF ORISTANO faces the central-western coast of Sardinia, set in a barycentric position in the Mediterranean, an ideal site for international maritime transports.
Its deep bottoms enable high-tonnage ships to dock, making the industrial port of Oristano one of the strengths of the territory. It offers any interested enterprises a direct access to the navigable canal, also through terminals granted for exclusive use http://www.tharrosmarittima.it/porto_oristano/index.htm

THE MARINA OF ORISTANO is located in the marine borough of Torregrande, in the middle of the western coast of Sardinia. Protected by adverse weather agents, the port offers the availability of 405 berths and, thanks to its position, the facility is also a suitable departure point to visit the west coast of the Island, its still pristine beaches and seabeds as well as the natural and artistic resources of the Province of Oristano.
To the west, the Peninsula of Cape San Marco marks the boundary of the Marine Protected Area ‘Penisola del Sinis-Isola di Mal di ventre', with unique beaches, landscapes and environmental features. A navigation of a few miles takes you to the archaeological vestiges of the Phoenician-Punic city of Tharros, one of the most interesting tourist sights in Sardinia.
To the south-west, the long, sandy beach of Torregrande has recently been awarded with the Blue Flag, an significant acknowledgement by F.E.E. for the best marine tourist resorts. Managed by the ‘Marine Oristanesi' company, the marina also provides a number of nautical and dockyard services, also ashore.

THE MARINA OF BOSA is a river port comprising the mouth of river Temo, a commercial dock, Nautica Pinna's pontoons and a new dock.
Dangers: in the event of wind and wave-motion from W and/or NW or a strong backwash, entrance and/or exit from the river port is most dangerous. At present, the area is involved in  dredging works (down to a 4 m depth) and the construction of a breakwater to protect the river mouth.
Access hours: h24; daytime access and with calm water is recommended in any case.
Access: the ship canal may be accessed only by boat units with a maximum draught of 2 m; the entrance is signalled by small piers 1 m high and the mouth may be easily confused with a nearby inlet, dangerous for its rocks and shallows. A plan is in force to direct the traffic flow by means of entrance/exit lanes to/from the river (see Ord. No.09/2006 – local ordinance); maximum speed allowed: 3 knots.

Yachtsmen: On the right shore of river Temo, at about 600 m from the river mouth, the firm ‘Nautica Pinna', at No.2 (local ordinance), is the owner of a shipyard with a floating pontoon, providing 260 berths and boat garaging services for boats with a maximum draught of 3.5 m, open all-year-round. Still on the right shore, at about 750 m from the river mouth, the new dock floating pontoons can host 220 berths, entirely managed by the ‘Porto di Bosa S.p.A.' company. An agreement between the parties involved assigned the Coast Guard the right of berth on two pontoons. On the left shore of river Temo, a commercial deck (115 m long) is managed by the Maritime Authority, located at about 250 m from the river mouth; it allows a maximum draught of 3 m, mainly for commercial use.

Services and equipment: Petrol/gas oil/mixture station at the deck (8 a.m.-9 p.m.);  water and electricity plugs; 10, 20 and 25 t mobile crane; 65 t travelling crane; undercover/outdoor boat garaging services; engine, electric and electronic maintenance; wooden and fibreglass hulls maintenance; port surveillance; mooring service; professional scuba-divers; fire-fighting service; waste disposal; weather report; WCs and showers; food and drinks; car park.
