Sicily, the largest and most populated of the islands in the Mediterranean,  is centrally located equidistant from the Strait of Gibraltar and the Suez Canal, being like a bridge between East and West.

The presence of bays and inlets as well as numerous smaller islands has made the island a safe haven for ships which crossed the Mediterranean sea. Currently the island is a destination for international tourists which, moving by their boats, find safe harbours and a land full of attractions to visit. Recent studies have shown that in Sicily, including its smaller islands, the number of tourist overnights on the boat is almost 550,000, in only one year.  This value don't include the tourist that rent a boat from charter company.
